  2. I have Ireland here to read. Was it good? I know other people have enjoyed it.

I want to read Ill Wind as well. One of these days.

  3. Hi Bookfool!

I've been perusing your blog this morning...very enjoyable! I was wondering if you wouldn't mind if I put you on my Favorite Sites side bar? I won't add you until you respond. :)

    Happy Reading!

  4. Wow! You have quite a few Nevada Barr books. Are these books you've read or plan to read? I've never read anything by this author (whom I assume is a woman??). I loved, loved, loved The Time Traveler's Wife.

  5. Nat,

Steal away. I'm sure there are plenty of book fiends who'd love to peek at your shelves. :) I thought I sounded too much like a braggart, so I took off the text but it is totally cool, yes, getting your name in a book. I've never expected to be acknowledged - always a great surprise!

    Kailana,

I liked Ireland, although I thought the interwoven story of the boy in search of a storyteller detracted from the overall effect a bit. In general, it was a very good book (8/10 on my 2005 scale) and I'd recommend it. Ill Wind is one of my favorites by Nevada Barr!

    Joy,

Heck, yes, please add me. I've been feeling lonely, lately. Maybe I'll get more visitors. Glad you dropped in. I'll have to check your site out when I'm closer to consciousness (getting sleepy, here). Thanks for asking and for the compliment!!

    Les,

Nevada Barr used to live in Clinton, just 30 miles east of us, and she is a lovely, funny, terrific lady (yes, female!). I think I've read all of those but Liberty Falling - I went into an anti-mystery phase (due to nightmares; I still did read them on occasion) before that one came out and have fallen way behind on her Anna Pigeon series. I like the way she describes the plant life in National Parks almost better than the mysteries and some I thought much better than others. Ill Wind and Track of the Cat were two of my favorites (the latter being the first in the series). She's the kind of person you want to support, even if you're not crazy about her books, if you know what I mean. I truly can't say enough positive words about her. Oh, and she's an avid gardener! You'd get along famously with her. :)

I wondered if you'd read The Time-Traveler's Wife! It was my top read for 2005 - totally blew me away, such a wonderful, unique story.

  6. OK,you've convinced me. I'll add Barr to my list to check out at the library. Thanks. I think! ;) And did I miss something? You were mentioned in a book? That's wonderful! I get a thrill when someone cites my blog in their's. I can't imagine what I'd do if I was mentioned in a book. Wow.

  7. Les,

My very sweet (and prolific) writer friend, John Floyd, put me in his acknowledgments. So cool. I'll be reviewing his book, soon. See the book No More Bobs in that top pic? I'm also thanked in that one and the author, my wonderful friend Cindi, named a (very small-bit-part) character after me. :)

I hope you like Nevada Barr. Some of her books I enjoy and some I've found so-so, but I'll still buy them all because I like her so much. I do that. It'd be heck on the budget if I knew many more authors. LOL
